Cypress Gardens

The botanical gardens of Cypress Gardens Orlando attract repeated visits from millions of Orlando travel tourists every year.

This theme park offers 40 plus rides of different types and includes the roller coasters for which it is famous the world over. At the centre of attraction in Cypress Gardens, Orlando is the water ski shows. When you have set your sights on wet water adventures, you should head for Orlando.

Cypress gardens Orlando has an equally impressive collection of animals, birds and reptiles. The animal show, the garden show, food festival and an array of events for children rank among the added attractions. The right ambience for an enjoyable time with your family or friends or even both, has been very elegantly and thoughtfully laid out at the Cypress Gardens Orlando.

Cypress gardens Orlando was opened to public in January, 1936 and quickly became the darling of Florida and started receiving huge patronage from tourists and vacationers. The cinematic world also found the beauty of the garden befitting for their outdoor shooting schedules. Yet another feather in the cap was added when Cypress gardens emerged as the world capital for water skiing.

With the arrival of the Walt Disney World in 1971, the fortunes of Cypress Gardens Orlando gradually started its downhill journey. The 9/11 terrorist attack made things worse with fewer tourists coming in. The gardens had to be closed for nearly four months. Finally, February, 2004 saw a company named Adventure Park group take over the reigns and rename the garden as Cypress garden Adventure Park.

Though the new management had plans to open the park to the public in September, 2004, this too had to be postponed on account of damages resulting from the hurricane. Finally, in November, 2004 guests were allowed inside the gardens. The travails of the garden continued and in September 2006, the new management filed its bankruptcy petition.

This resulted in the control of the park moving to the Baker Leisure group in 2008 January. This management once again closed the park to the public in November, 2008 hoping to reopen at end March, 2009 with an expansion of the water park, but without the animals and rides.

The Disney World, as everybody knows is a different world by itself. Competing forces in the Orlando neighborhood make sustained efforts to claim a share of this huge pie. But, it is a war of sorts which in the end analysis should be beneficial to the Orlando FL travel tourists.
