The Walt Disney World Fort Wilderness Campground is a great destination for travel in Orlando Florida.

It makes a great camping experience. Along with the excitement of sleeping in cabins or tents, roughing up like the old timers, the campers can have the Disney World's magic at their fingertips. This campground has organized campfires, outdoor fun, games and movies for everyone.

This campground which opened in 1971, with its idyllic, quaint theme of American Frontier continues enchanting scores of guests every year. Situated on the 700 acres of lush cypress and pine trees, the Fort Wilderness campground is a haven of picturesque natural beauty.

Guests can wander through the quiet trails of the campgrounds and enjoy the log-facade buildings' rugged charm, like the Pioneer Hall and the Meadow Trading Post. Water canals flowing through the campgrounds, cabins and common areas, and the roaming ducks, rabbits and deer add a sense of peace to the mind.

The Fort Wilderness campgrounds offers 4 types of different campgrounds which includes the Premium Campgrounds, Preferred Hook-Up Campgrounds, Tent/Pop-up Campgrounds and the Full Hook-up Campgrounds. These campgrounds differ in their amenities and have a length ranging from 25-65 feet with each having a maximum occupancy of 10 guests.

All of them include privacy, electrical hook ups, water, cable television, charcoal grill and a picnic table. With an additional charge, access of high speed internet is also available. All the locations except the Tent/Pop-up campgrounds include sewer hook-up.

The air-conditions comfort stations present throughout the campgrounds has laundry facilities, private showers and toilets, ice machines and telephones.

Dining in the campgrounds includes a restaurant, 2 small snack bars and dinner shows which serve American food. A meal in the restaurant ranges from below $15 to $60 per person excluding the tax, tip and alcohol.

The Campground's amenities and services includes video rentals, stores selling camping supplies and basic groceries, child services and babysitting, select location of wireless internet access and a kennel.

Orlando travel visitors can also take part in various recreations like swimming, archery, wagon and horse rides, fishing, trail, watercraft and bike rentals, nightly sing along with Disney characters and a Disney movie under the stars.

The rates of staying at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds starts from $43 plus tax per night depending on the rates of occupancy, season and dates. Complimentary transportation is provided to the campers between the campgrounds and other destinations throughout the Resort, including the Disney Water parks and Disney Theme Parks and also the Orlando International Airport.
