The grandeur and magic of live opera is served in all its majesty by the Orlando Opera Company ever since its first show in 1958 at Orlando Municipal Auditorium.

Much water has flown under the bridge since then and the company has earned national reputation for its ability to present top class singers and presenting brilliant theatrical productions.

The company is governed by a board of trustees numbering 34 who are active in the various committees. The 50th anniversary of the Orlando Opera Company was celebrated recently. The company's mission is to produce the grandeur, passion and magic of live and professional opera catering to diverse audience.

Discovering and training operatic talent from the emerging younger generation is among the major objectives of the Orlando Opera Company Resident apprentices are afforded the opportunity of assuming secondary roles in the mainstage productions. They also take part in various outreach/educational or touring programs at various levels like state, national or local. Local artists with the right mix of talents are selected and placed as affiliate apprentices.

These artists receive support and training and gain performance experience in the interim. The company's touring program serves to maintain its long standing commitment towards education, accessibility and outreach. This program also helps reach diverse people not just from Central Florida, but even beyond.

The Orlando Opera Company has several programs to find, encourage and motivate young operatic talent specifically between the ages 8 and 18. The summer opera camps are particularly beneficial to the young aspirants when they receive instructions in drama, dance, voice, and theater production in the course of preparing for a fully staged public performance youth opera. Other programs focusing on various schools and school level competition enhances the efforts of the company towards operatic education.

Three mainstage productions are performed by the Orlando Opera Company each season at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre and is OPERA America's full member. The core values of the company include Education and outreach, Ethical Behavior and integrity, High quality and artistic excellence, welcoming people from every culture. Their mainstage performances are scheduled as below:

• Fridays - 8pm
• Sundays - 2pm
• Tuesdays - 7.30 pm

While you can occupy your seats an hour prior to the commencement of the above schedules, late comers are admitted only during the intermissions.
